The place is 12km north from Tinsukia town in Assam. It is surrounded by rivers like Brahmaputra and Lohit in the north while Dibru River surrounds it from south. The park is situated in the district of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia of Assam. It is mainly a combination of moist mixed-semi deciduous forest, moist mixed-semi evergreen forest, grassland and canebrakes and is also the largest salix swamp forest in the north east India. The park is situated in the flood plains of the Lohit and the Brahmaputra Rivers at an altitude of m above sea level and is a haven for many endangered specie; and has a rich fish diversity because of auto stocking by Dibru and Brahmaputra Rivers.

Dibru - Saikhowa national park is located at about 12 kms north of Tinsukia town of Assam covering an area of sq. It is also a Biosphere reserve. The Park bounded by the Brahmaputra and Lohit rivers in the north and Dibru river on the south. It is situated in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia District of Assam.

It mainly consists of wet evergreen forests, tropical moist deciduous forest, cane brakes and grasslands. It is the largest salix swamp forest in north east India. Situated in the flood plains of the Brahmaputra and the Lohit, at an altitude of m above sea level, Dibru-Saikhowa is a safe haven for many endangered species. Dibru Saikhowa has tropical monsoon climate with a hot and wet summer and cool and usually dry winter. The annual rainfall ranges from mm to mm. The main rainy months are June, July, August, September.

Total 36 species of mammals have so far been recorded from the Dibru-Saikhowa, of which 12 are listed in the schedule 1 of Wild life Protection Act Dibru-Saikhowa is uniformly rich and diver in herpeto fauna. A written permission from the Park Authority for entering into the National Park is obligatory. No entry after sunset and before sunrise is permitted in the Park. Guijan Ghat and Saikhowaghat are the two entry points for tourists.

Night halt and pickniking inside the Park is strictly prohibited. Lodging facilities are available out side the Park at Guijan Forest I. However, private Hotels are also available at Tinsukia Town at a very reasonable rate. By Rail : The nearest railway station is also at Dibrugarh which is linked with Guwahati by a broad gauge.

By Road : Tinsukia is the nearest town which is about 10 km and 50 km away from Gujjan and Dhola entry point respectively. One can take buses, auto rickshaws and taxis from Tinsukia. The park is km away from Guwahati, the state capital.

The yearly temperature of the area ranges from 7 deg C to 34 deg C where June, July and August are the hottest while December and January are the coolest months. It's main attaraction is the White Winged Wood Duck which stays happyly in its natural habitat.

The bright coloured wild horses which are known as Feral Horses are another species of wild life which makes Dibru Saikhowa very famous.
